Percy enlisted with C.E.F. July 27, 1915. He left for England with 79th Cameron Highlanders of Canada on RMS Lapland, April 24, 1916. On June 28, 1916 the whole 79th Battalion was transfered into the 43rd Battalion, Cameron Highlanders of Canada. They left for France, (front) 29 June 1916 and joined the rest of the 43rd, who had been there since February 1916. By the end of October, 1916, Percy was back in England convalescing from injuries incurred at the Somme. In October, 1918 he was back in France until February10, 1919, when the whole 43rd left La Harve for England. On March 12, 1919 The 43rd sailed from Liverpool on RMS Baltic for Canada. They arrived in Halifax March 20. After a lengthy train ride, they finally arrived in Winnipeg on March 24, 1919.
